About Us

We are Pablos Horse Sanctuary based in Long Clawson in Leicestershire,we look after some 60+ mistreated and rescued horses and give them the life and love that they deserve.
Pablo's Horse Santuary is named after and

as a tribute to a very special ittle pony who
came into our lives about 15 years ago. He
was small, old, or no particular breed and
with one crooked leg. But he had the heart
of a lion and the charm of Casanova with a
wicked sense of humour. When the day
came for him to go to horse heaven because
of his many health problems, we were
completely heartbroken.
From that time on we have taken in
unwanted horses, and since we started the
sanctuary, we have never turned away a
horse in need. We currently have 53 in our
care, ranging in age from 3 to 48 years. We
only re-home in exceptional circumstances
because most of our horses cannot be
ridden. We keep them with their equine
friends and they form very strong bonds and
we respect this.
We have everything in the sanctuary from
tiny Shetlands to giant Shires. The photo
shows our youngest rescued pony, Cherry,
a three-year old skewbald filly who was kept
tethered by the side of a busy road and was
hit by a car. This left her almost completely
blind and she was going to be put down

She is safe with us now and is with one of
her special friends, a charming and very
lovely 35 year old gelding called Tappy.
My dream is to open the sanctuary to
children and adults of all ages so they can
receive educational and therepeutic benefit
from our lovely gentle rescued horses. They
can interact with them, learn about them and
even ride them. People with problems can
often communicate with animals who, like
them, have had their own difficulties. A
cuddle with a horse can mean an awful lot
and give a lot of comfort. This is what we
want to promote.
To carry on with our work and keep the
santuary going takes a lot of money. Every
few months we hold a fundraising event to
help cover our costs.
We would love to hear from anyone who
can help us in a practical or administrative
way or help us with fundraising. We also
urgently need more volunteers to help with
the horses, so if anyone has any spare time,
mornings or evenings, we would love to hear
from you. The only qualification you need is
a love of horses, plus goats and pigs; we
have these as well!"

Carole's day

Looking after so many horses keeps Carole busy 24/7. Each day starts around 8am when
she and her volunteer helpers do the rounds feeding, watering,
mucking out and generally giving the horses some TLC. This usually takes all morning. Then
its back home for some lunch and catching up with domestic chores until its time for the
second visit at around 5.30pm. And as if that wasn't enough, Carole also has time for an
evening job to help pay for the horses' feed; three or four nights a week (plus Sunday lunch
time) Carole can be found behind the bar at the Noels Arms in Melton Mowbray telling rude jokes and pretending she works hard to everyone who comes in,lol.

If you can help us to continue in any way or you would like to volunteer or anything at all call Carole Fielding on
